Here are a few photos from our trip to Big Bend National Park, Texas in November 2011, to celebrate our eighth wedding anniversary. Click on one of the small images below to see it full size.

A geologist had told us about petrified wood in the park, so we went looking for it and found it. The petrified wood isn't too far from the main park road (that's our car in the distance). More petrified wood. More petrified wood.
More petrified wood. More petrified wood. More petrified wood. More petrified wood.
More petrified wood. More petrified wood. More petrified wood. More petrified wood.
More petrified wood. More petrified wood. More petrified wood. We hiked up to our wedding place to celebrate our eighth anniversary.
Our cairn that marks our wedding place. The view from the South Rim was pretty hazy. We're planning to donate a bench to the park, that would be located near our wedding place on the South Rim. Looking West from our "bench location" towards our wedding place.
Looking South from our "bench location". We hiked up to Emory Peak, starting at sunrise when the sun was just hitting the top of the peak. Emory Peak from the Pinnacles Trail. Getting closer to the top....
Boot Canyon from the Emory Peak trail. Janice just below the summit. Janice scrambling up towards the top. Janice on the rocks leading to the top.
Looking North-East from the summit of Emory Peak. Boot Canyon from the summit of Emory Peak. Looking South-East from the summit of Emory Peak. Looking South from the summit of Emory Peak, towards our wedding place on the South Rim.
Looking North from the summit of Emory Peak, down into the Chisos Basin. The solar panels that you can see from down in the Basin. Taking a rest after reaching the summit. A beautiful view through The Window from the Pinnacles Trail on the way down.
