Here are a few photos from our trip to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee in April 2011. Click on one of the small images below to see it full size.

We rented bikes and rode 11 miles around the Cades Cove area. There were beautiful views of the mountains in the distance. This area was first settled in the 1790s. Looking South towards the high mountains.
It was warm enough to make us thirsty. Luckily there wasn't too much traffic. Some people must not have enjoyed the downhills like we did. There are lots ot little churches in the area.
We liked it so much we went house-hunting. This one needed some work. This one looked promising. There were some beautiful rivers.
Sometimes they have flash floods. The road was pretty hilly in places. We met a bear. In the end he wandered off without talking to us.
The lookout on Clingmans Dome. On a clear day the views must be beautiful, but it was pretty hazy when we were there. Looking West, some lakes in the distance. Looking North.
Looking North-East. Clingmans Dome is the highest point on the 2,155 mile Appalachian Trail. Charlie will hike it after we win the lottery. This way to Georgia....... This way to Maine.....
